Can you tell me, please, how Statmat MkII was compared to a Marigo Crossbow CD mat? I use the latter and like it a lot.
Thank you.
Boris.

Hi Boris,Thanks for your inquiry.
I used the Marigo Crossbow for about a month (30-trial from Audio Advisor). In my system, it made very little difference: you could just about discern a change in the placement of musicians left to right along the soundstage, but it was very subtle. On some recordings I could hear no difference at all. With Statmat the difference is spectacular on all recordings. Marigo is much more robustly constructed, though; the Statmat looks and feels disposable in comparison.
It's probably a system dependant thing. I live in a pretty isolated location, so I've had no chance to try Statmat on any other set-up but my own (nearest dealer is 90 miles away) so I can't say if it's a panacea or not (I doubt it), but if the testimonials are to be believed on the Ringmat website, I'm not the only one to be impressed!
It's good that the Crossbow works for you, though; it just didn't do much of anything in my system.
Hope this helps
Thank you Deaf Ear for your information very much. Though I have tried the Marigo on different CDs and it always lessened what I would call digitall harshness of records on CDs (piano became much less ringing for example) I would like to try the Statmat.
Thank you.
You're very welcome Boris,As I said, it's probably system dependant. The effects of the Marigo were very slight in my setup, but you and plenty of others have reported excellent results so I've no reason to doubt that it would work well in many other situations.
I was expecting a similarly lightweight performance when I bought the Statmat; I certainly did not expect the huge transformation that took place! I suppose the opposite of my experience is likely, too: that Statmat may not perform in other's systems. But, as I reported in my review, the effects for me were so unprecedented that I had to tell the other inmates.
