If I'm reading it correctly, you pay about a thousand dollars more for the Bryston unit. What do you get for your extra thousand dollars? - Various connectors, a web interface, and a TFT screen with virtual VU meters. Looks to me as if Darko is merely an apologist for the extra loot you're paying out if you get the Bryston unit. Not much of a value proposition for me (as I mentioned in my previous post), but each listener is free to make up his own mind.
I also must say that you act in your post as if I'm putting down various Pi products. I'm not doing any such thing at all. I'm merely remarking on what I think is Bryston's cynical money grab by adding a few features which, IMHO, don't even begin to add a thousand dollars worth of value to the base Pi unit. But, as I said, that's for each individual listener to decide.
Follow Ups:
Darko's review, though seemingly biased, does say the choice is up to the consumer. How often do you find that in a review?
You don't see Stereophile or Absolute Sound reviewing a cable or power cord and then saying "by the way, you can save tons of money building one yourself".
So good on Darko.
Cheers!

I did not mean to imply that you are putting down any of the Raspberry products. I think they are fantastic.
In fact, I myself would choose to build the Raspberry kit over purchasing pretty much any "ready-to-go" product I currently see out there.
However, my audio enthusiast neighbor would sooner by a plug n play product than building a kit.
But note that he, as well as as a few others in our neighborhood, just had their yard fences professionally redone. It took less than a week. I'm doing my fence myself. Going into the second month now and hopefully done soon. (I just can't work as fast as I used too, and I ache all over!)
As you say, to each their own.
Cheers!

'Looks to me'
me too ... that's why I'm just well to do instead of rich
good looking instead of handsome
clever instead of smart
not to mention self effacing rather than humble
'each listener is free'
well, cheap anyway
