Take a moment and read another manafacture's debunking of MQA.

Digital filtering isn't really needed for 96kHz playback (as indicated in the impulse response chart in the link)..... A good analog filter would likely render the music more naturally..... These "brickwall" filters were originally intended to attain full audio bandwidth (20 Hz to 20 kHz) for CD playback, sampled at 44.1 kHz..... (The "brickwall" was needed because Fs/2, 22.05 kHz was very close to the top end of the established audio band, 20 kHz. Analog filters needed to be very high order to achieve this. But this issue goes away with higher sample rates.) For full audio bandwidth with music sampled at 96 kHz or higher, I believe a "soft" analog filter would likely work best, with no oversampling.
A soft digital filter would work too, and avoid introducing additional components into the analog signal path. It wouldn't need to be oversampling.
You're absolutely right that brick wall filtering is not needed with 96 KHz sampling. But it's also true that the time domain artifacts of using brick wall filtering (i.e. ringing) should be innocuous with 96 KHz sampling, because the ringing is around 44-48 KHz rather than 20-22 KHz. If you just move the stop band far enough away from the audio band, the filter selection shouldn't matter.
The coffin lid is well secured IMO.
Very Few people, beyond magazines and Forums, even know the new format exists/is being shilled.
Let alone willing to pay for yet another media.
No mass market = No sale
Let it go.. it's effectively DOA.. already
It seems to me with the endless discussion of MQA on most audio forums including this one it is not dead
Alan
Time to discuss it in the present tense is NOT endless!

In fact...there are things being organized behind the scenes by some very powerful interested parties that will ensure it will will die a spectacular death. Stay tuned for the funeral.

" I am a manufacturer of music servers that have a feature to change the music's tuning to A=432Hz." Great, so he wants to change the tuning of all music so that it fits the pitch standards of the mid-baroque period. WTF?
...Met thinks that was a joke.
Maybe not.

...like a spring suspension system for their 2.5" laptop disk drives, and loading the music into RAM. Oooh, that's original. Gotta love the marketing spin!
He might do something rash!
Read the previous article on the same site about the Donald Fagan album and he likes the MQA better than the vinyl.

More people just selling us stuff. In this case they are no different then Meridian
Alan
Meridain gear never sold worth a damn. To date they have lost 30 million dollars since their inception. Dishonestly comes out of desperation.
Yes, think of all the new equipment that would need to be sold and software. Think of how that would help the manufacturers and retailers. Think of how all that would need to be reviewed and how that would help the reviewers and the advertising. Oh, the consumers? Well all the money they would need to spend.

humankind, civilization, and the global economy.
Dammit, too bad it seems like such a boneheaded idea.
No doubt the spirit of altruism at the core of MQA got lost in the shuffle.

It is total collusion of the press and Meridian for the exact purposes you outline..
