I have a Master 7 and I am helping a friend set up his Master 7 for NOS operation. There has always been some confusion about the jumpers for NOS. I have been running the following
Bypass-----Off
IPS0------- ON
IPS1------- ON
The newest info is not clear
It seems to indicate the following
ATT0------- ON
ATT1------- ON
IPS0------- ON
BYPASS----- ?
Can anybody clarify the correct settings for NOS and no filtering?
Alan

Hi AlanJust wanted to pass on some info that might point to bypassing the PLL when using I2S.
When the Amenero or anything the outputs I2S receives a signal it uses its own I2S MCLK [master clock]for a PLL, therefore, if you used the Master7's PLL you will essentially be clocking the signal twice before it reaches the chips.
From Texas Instruments: [see pdf for full info]
In addition to I2S_CLK, I2S_WC, and I2S data lines, the Deserializer generates a Master I2S Clock (MCLK) using its internal I2S PLL.
http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla221/snla221.pdfApparently this is why so many people at Headfi hear positive results when bypassing the PLL. See Link.

Basically you can think of the Amenero card in the Dac as a "Internal" USB to I2S converter as this is exactly what it does. Kingwa should actually by 'default' bypass the PLL for the DSP-1 when the Amenero is used...otherwise we have PLL x 2 of the data before it reaches the actual dac chips.
Best jumper settings explanation, these settings have been confirmed via tests done by members over at Headfi. Kingwa does seem to contradict himself on the Audiogd web site maybe translation/confusion etc.

Here is an answer to my own question

Hi ahendler.
Having recently sold my Audio-gd Reference 7.1 DAC I knew Kingwa kept a manual of his different components onsite. I posted a link to your Audio-GD Master 7 DAC manual down below. I hope it's of some help for you in the future.

I have all the Master 7 info
It just sometimes conterdicts itself
I now have it setup the way I want

When I tried my Master 7 at true NOS, I had phase trouble with 16/44.1 material... higher res was fine.
I needed to use a test CD to ultimately confirm this, but it drove me crazy for a while due to much of my files are high res, so the (not so noticeable) out of phase effect seemed to be intermittent.
I ended up using the "warmest" jumpers setting from the Audio-GD website, which I think is actually 2X oversampling, and this worked so well I eventually changed my Master 7 to the NOS 7 model.
This site helped a lot to understand the settings also:

Of course there has been some confusion with what is true NOS on the master 7
I do it ths way
Bypass- jumper off
IPSO jumper on
IPS1 jumper on
According to KingWa this is NOS
No phase problems what so ever
When I asked King Wa should I get the NOS 7 he said it would be a sideways move and not to do it
Either way the Audio-GD stuff is really special
Alan
Thanks for the additional comments Alan...
I tried this today with my NOS7 (removing the BYPASS jumper)
Wow... nice.. now no phase problems using my Tanly DDC via i2S.
Sometime I need try this with my SU-1 also..
