Unlike hardwired logic they're ALL programmable 'multi-function computers' to begin with.
A manufacturer can dedicate it to a single function just like a DIYer can. To what extent this is done and to what level this improves the sound is up to the manufacturer or the DIYer.
But they all start life as a programmable general purpose computer that might end up as a special function device.
Get over it. ;-)

I posted another definition for you. One that isn't cherry picked for first graders.
Seriously??Because you don't like THE DICTIONARY's definition you're not going to accept it? Mighty humble of you. Tell me, what about that definition isn't good enough for you? What computers aren't covered by it? And, - finally, - do you think that if the definition was "bad," do you think that it would still be there and/or not changed?
This part of the problem, is your inability to understand basic philosophic concepts of logic, reason, & how things are defined.
Cheers man, enjoy yourself.
