I recently acquired an Audio Aero Capitole MKII SE disc player. It didn't come with a user's manual nor can I find one online to read or download.
And, my unit came with a fancy Sun Wave touch-screen remote control that only seems to have had the most essential commands programmed into it.
At this point, all I want to know is how to turn the display on and off. There's no control for that on the faceplate, but I assume this is an option. Perhaps I'm wrong and it's not.
Any help with this much appreciated!
Thanks, Joel.

which is a leftover from my AA Prima player I had ten years ago. It's absolutely functional, has a dimmer and phase switch, but there is a blemish on the left side of #4. If you want it I'll send it to you. Just let me know. It's free, but the shipping is on you since you're in Canada.

where did your AA player go?
I took my dealer up on his trade-up policy and got the Naim 5x player with FlatCap power supply.
Very nice!
which spinner sounds better?
...that was ten years ago:). The Prima player had a very enjoyable sound, very huge soundstage, and sounded terrific with acoustic music, but it was very glitchy, with noisy tubes which were soldered, so then I went for the Naim, which is a terrific player, with very balanced sound. Now I got the Electrocompaniet ECM 1 UP player, and it's in a different league, although the first unit I received was defective.
Right On!
I have heard a few Naim spinners. I want to demo that Electrocompainet cd/sacd spinner.
Erik,
Many thanks for the generous offer!
I'd be happy to pay the cost of shipping the remote to me in Canada.
If you could e-mail me (philology@bell.net) the cost of shipping to Toronto, Canada M6P 4H3, and the appropriate e-mail for PayPal, I can send the funds and my full address to you. . .
Grand merci!
Joel.
!
But I'm pretty sure you cannot turn it off.JB

I am beginning to suspect you are in fact right: that there is no way to turn off the display of the Capitole MKII.
Top middle button. Was also a phase inverter button.
Cheers!

Alas, If mine had only come with the original remote!
But what I've got is a touch-screen programmable remote into which the "defeat display" command has not been programmed.
That is the original remote. Later versions came with the Sunwave.
I do know the machines ran Philips RC5 codes, but I don't have the actual program.
Sunwave still exists, maybe they have some programming you could use.

If only you could borrow an original remote so your Sunwave can learn the codes. Or send your Sunwave to someone who has the original, if they don't want to risk lending the original out.
I've had no luck finding any remote codes for your player on the net. Otherwise I believe they could be downloaded.
The only other thing I can think of is if the original Audio Aero was just a re-branded remote. But I don't recognize the photo of the original one. If it was a re-brand you might find one that does what you need.
I don't know much about reverse programming or if it's even possible to set up your Sunwave just by pointing it at your CD player. Maybe someone else on the Asylum knows if this possibility even exists?
Looks like quite the player you picked up, just from surfing some of the reviews on the net. I'm sure it sounds great.
Cheers!

I want to say that some models can have their display turned off.
Joel-
there are some good discussions over on Audiogon forums for Audio Aero cd/sacd players. Check it out and Happy Listening!
Although I don't know whether or not the display can be turned off, I am of the opinion (and it is no more than that) that recent display technology seems less noisy than its predecessors and I have not found any recent displays that exhibit (to me) any audible change when comparing off with on. Mind you I may just be a deaf old coot.
Of course this is of no asssisatnce to you if your problem is with display brightness.
