It looks like all the hub-bub has died down about the Apollo. Ok owners, what's your longer term evaluation? Ups, downs, anything. I'm looking to buy a player this year since my Tjoeb has caught my wife's ear and it is permanently residing in the living room now. There's no way to audition one - our one dealer says there won't be a demo unit until about August. Should I wait for the audition or look elsewhere? Thanks!
Follow Ups:
manual says it plays CDA, MP3, and WMA. Haven't compared with Saturn but I feel Apollo is a real breakthrough. I believe the Stereophile review says you'll need good electronics to hear the difference between Apollo and Saturn(but perhaps that is obvious),
and it said Rega's own Brio did not show much difference, but I think
the Brio is an entry level integrated amp. One thing I like about
the Apollo is that bad recording quality still sounds bad, but you
are getting so much more of the picture, that I don't go rushing to
change disks or turn down the volume. There's just more of the recording to enjoy besides the 'harsh brightness' that was about the only thing you heard with other players.
Hava any of you done a direct comparison between tha Apollo and the Saturn? Is it worth the extra money?
I have spent time with them both extensively. Here's the link to my review of the Saturn:http://www.dagogo.com/RegaSaturn.html
I'm pondering one, but that would be a showstopper (if it doesn't).
and how!

I have owned my Apollo since last November and I am still amazed at how good this CD player makes my CD collection sound. This is truly one of the best audio bargains I have purchased. I just got through listening to Kate Bush Aerial on CD and the Apollo worked it's magic like it does on so many other CD's. After the CD was over, I thought to myself, the Apollo is worth every penny I paid for it. No regrets here. Give it a listen.
I've been living with an Apollo for almost a year now. Every time I listen to a disc through the player I hear little details that I never knew were there. The thing just flat gets more information off a CD than any other player I've ever heard. I can sit and listen to it for hours at a time; it's got a near-analog smoothness that is something very special.I have not had the opportunity to live with any of the megabuck jobs, but the Apollo smokes anything I've heard in the $3K and down price class. I don't see how you could beat one at its price point. Place your order now; you won't be disappointed.
