That was exactly the question I was asking on the post. I wasn't really getting into the opamp thing but you raised my curiosity about bypassing the opamps. What I was trying to ask was exactly what you posted back to my initial question. If one uses a tube preamp, then why would one need a tube output, getting the initail question was: Is a tube preamp an output to the previous stage or the input to the next stage, or both. Again with the convenience of switching and volume control.
