In Reply to: RE: TAS Fall 2020 Special annual issue is a good one. posted by tketcham on July 15, 2020 at 05:42:26
I'm not a subscriber to TAS. Normally I avoid all those buyer's guide/directory/recommended components issues like the plague. But a "Loudspeaker Designer Roundtable" sounds like something I might want to seek out at my local Barnes & Noble.
Follow Ups:
Robert Harley asked loudspeaker designers the same questions regarding design philosophies and challenges, current technology and materials, the future of speaker design and manufacturing, and their perspective on using DSP and powered speakers. TAS published the responses from Richard Vandersteen, Daryl Wilson, Yoav Geva, and Michael Borreson.
There's also an interesting roundtable on subwoofers with Doug Henderson Of JL Audio and John Hunter of REL Acoustics.
Not sure if the two articles alone are worth the asking retail price but if you're interesting in loudspeakers and subwoofers in general the issue is a good reference.
Tom
The retail price is no obstacle.
I don't subscribe to any magazines anymore because of all the unwanted marketing that goes along with it. But when there's something of interest, I'll buy at the newsstand if I can find it.
