The live musical moment happens LIVE not in your living room or in your headphones. Binary reproduction leaves out something, always.
Sit back, relax, and enjoy the musik. Let psychoacoustics take over and live happily ever after.
Now, 78's were the real analog.
Follow Ups:
I don't pretend to understand much of the jargon used in describing MQA nor do I particularly care or have heard it. For all I know it might be better, just different or potentially worse.
To me, it would seem to be a rather clever business plan. If it is successful to the degree the inventors ( and investors ) hope, I would expect it to be a wise and very profitable venture. It just seems that some regard the MQA's inventers as some sort of audio geeks trying to improve the sound of digital first and financial gain secondly. That just seems rather naïve to me.
So while the sound improvement ( real or imagined ) is important to the rest of us, a serious business plan worries about economic gain almost regardless of whether we really need something.
If you have broadband you don't need MQA.

From the evidence on this site and others, MQA's primary purpose is to
generate page views for Web forums. :-)

but not for Stereophile and TAS?
I will say this for MQA: they'll go far with the blue light thingy. Just look at how well that turned out for Pono! (tbf, Apple is what killed Pono)
Latest MQA slogan: Get the blue light before it's gone! :)
I've tried HiResAudio and Onkyo.,
The Files I want from HiRes aren't available in the US, and the Onkyo Site didn't work at all for me, and I got no response form Customer Care or whatever.
Where do you get MQA Files?
I don't want to Stream, I want to get actual Files.
TIA!
See my reply to your thread of the other day.
refresh my memory?
It's in your thread "My Incredible True MQA Story".https://www.audioasylum.com/forums/critics/messages/9/90958.html

why use MQA when uncompressed high res lossless files are available?
I want to get a couple and see what's what.
Sign up for Tidal for a month, it sounds very very good. Give it a stream.

What is MQA?
Go to the MQA homepage (link below) and try to figure it out. Good luck!
Why should I care?
Because MQA's goal is for all digital music to someday be MQA encoded, meaning MQA becoming the de facto digital audio format. I.e. no other audio file formats, no more Red Book CDs, etc.
Do you care that I don't care? Should I care whether or not anyone cares?
THIS was the real analog!
