it's all Schiit all the time now!
But seriously, I've heard the Yggdrasil any number of times at shows as well as at a local 'DAC Shootout', whatever that is supposed to mean...
Yes, every bit as good as the PSAudio Direct Stream and as good or maybe better that my Audio-GD Master 7, but not by much.
I think the sweet spot for DACs is now in the $1000+ range and the Yggdrasil sits comfortably right there. While one can pay more, there's a wall at about $2,000 where things don't get that much better till you are near to $10K and there we're talking about gear that sits in the middle of $100,000+ systems with $20,000 worth of cables and who knows what any of it would sound like all by itself in a 'normal' $10,000 system?
Yggdrasil and a Ragnarok along with a pair of KEF LS50 and a set of HiFiMan HE-1000 V2's and I'd be ready for the 'Assisted Living Center'. :-)

I like the Gungnir Multibit better that the Yggdrasil. In my opinion, the Gungnir is more musical and half the price.
If you already know your Schiit, and it seems you do, then why so hot and bothered about Stereophile reviewing? I know the answer. Just want to see what you say.
and it could well be, then there is no reason you should be interested in what Stereophile thinks about Schiit products, or any others. There is no way Stereophile can possibly agree that a manufacturers $1,000 DAC sounds better than their $2,000 one.
"O, that way madness lies; let me shun that; No more of that."
