I think a lot, based on what friends talk about when they get their issues. And when I talk to guys I don't know and they start telling me about their speakers I note that key phrases are just as written by the reviewer (I have a photographic memory). So, the addicts are reading. All addicts love to read about their hobbies. Audio is not different. They can't talk to friends 24/7, so they read....over, and over and over.
Follow Ups:
Having read the rags for years, I find them boring Today.I want to spend my time listening, not reading about audio.
When I last read audio magazines, I would read for about an hour, and then toss into the trash.

after years and years, yes, many folks tire of them. But that's after having a lot of experience and knowing your preferences. If you just entered the hobby today you'd be addicted just like you were way back when.
