my recent encounter with the bellari phono stage reinforces my conviction that tubes dont have to sound stereotypical.

surround used to extract room sound (ambience) is the way to go. dynaquad or dolby pro logic formats for music adjusted so the rear speakers are barely detectable. when real rear channel info comes along, its THERE in spades.

whether music is in a studio or live venue or artificially created space, the components for location are there. discrete sources arent truly necessary for location by the ear/brain, just some fairly accurate difference information.

it seems the most successful surround recordings embody ambience information. we dont need a sonic circ de soleil to enjoy natural music, and it should all sound natural, even synthesized music.
