Clark, I cut you a lot of slack because of the things I have learned
from you over the years, but you do have a propensity to shoot your
mouth off before engaging your brain.
As appears to be the case here. If you are referring to the fact that
Sam Tellig now posts on the stereophile.com forums, no I don't "keep
him on a leash" any more than was done here.
If you are talking about something else entriely different, my
apologies.

Yeah, that's what I deliver... BULKSHIT! Better believe it!So John, have you really joined the list of my detractors, who range from soundmind to bjh and not far beyond?
"You do have a propensity to shoot your mouth off before engaging your brain." You're too kind! According to the august personages above, I never engage my brain.

OK. A) I was quoting or paraphrasing someone else's remark. B) He did leave AA immediately after posting some particularly offensive, vicious and obscene material, the very sort of thing the poster I replied to was discussing, and he has not behaved that way in SP Forums. C) Tom and I communicate backchannelwise (as they say) and I harbor nothing at all personal against him.

PS At great risk to my own reputation I have always (and frequently) defended Stereophile against what I consider egregiously unfair criticism. That won't stop, but I am surprised its respected editor took a potshot at me, however wayward. Friends?

Understood Clark. I guess that prior to reading your posting, I was
already pissed off reading yet another idiot claiming that I restrict
what my writers say. For the record, within what is legally
justifiable, I allow everyone who writes for Stereophile to write what
they feel appropriate. Look at it as me paying out the rope. If they
go too far, then everyone loves a public hanging, right?

John,Since it was my comment that Clark responded to, I'm just a tad confused that you would refer to me as "yet another idiot claiming that I restrict what my writers say." I said nothing of the sort (besides not being an idiot...;): I said that I was bothered by Sam's over-the-top posts (on the High-Rez Highway, where he was trolling, not responding, BTW). His quick anger trigger made me question his value in helping "save the high-end." I never suggested that you have anything to do with what anyone posts, including those who work for the magazine.
And besides, I'm a satisfied subscriber, and I respect that you post here regularly. However, the fact that Sam works for Stereophile doesn't mean that he shouldn't be criticized for crudeness...
