I'll also note that Pentatone has recently come out with a Jurowski / Berlin RSO recording of the Alpine Symphony, which has so far received some. . . uh. . . mixed reviews. But it IS recorded in MCh! (Haven't heard it myself.)
OTOH, I do have the Jurowski / Berlin RSO recording of Also sprach Zarathustra.
It's pretty good, but doesn't have the excitement of the Steinberg/BSO quad recording on a DG blu-ray audio.
Follow Ups:
Here he is, again doing Strauss, but in his new gig.
Not counting LSO where he is now principal guest conductor? Not sure, these guys change jobs a lot.
He left SWR Sinfonieorchester Baden-Baden und Freiburg when they merged with Stuttgart and I have no idea what they call themselves now. The 5 CD set was done over a number of years before the merged with Stuttgart. I doubt it is released on hi rez let alone multi-channel.
No worries as the 16/44.1 is still well recorded.
I know you can't stand anything on period instruments, but even if you leave Les Siècles to the side, and not everything they have done is really that 'period' sounding, his work is worth a listen.
Indeed, an excellent group of recordings--- what a groundbreaking music source Qobuz is!
(Yesterday, I listened to his Beethoven 5th. Well recorded and performed).
This recording is available on Qobuz and Amazon at 24/96. The rest, with the SWR Orchestra is in red book.
when I said 16/44.1.
Chris might even find the H-M release in multi channel! :-)
Just checked Presto Classics and no. :-(
I just checked Native DSD (15% off on Labor Day - only for US customers), and some of HM's more recent releases are there. I went back and ordered an older title though, the Gatti/RPO Tchaikovsky 6 and Serenade for Strings (to complete that set of the last three Tchaikovsky Symphonies - I have the other two on SACD). Sure, I know Gatti's a cad, but those were pretty darned exciting performances, so what choice did I have? ;-)
I just ordered this set, thanks :)

that would lead one to feel they were into period instruments or HIP.
So I think you are safe.
whoa ... and here I thought that was a German law firm
thanks Ivan!
I have listened to the same forces (with singers of course) doing Mahler's Das Lied. It's a "live," or should I say "concert," recording from the Philharmonie. Beautiful performance, but disappointing sonics IMO.
Is that how the Strauss-Mahler recording was made?
But in any case, it looks like it was recorded in a different way from the Strauss AsZ and Mahler Totenfeier album I have with the same forces. In the case of the album I have, it was recorded under studio conditions at the Haus des Rundfunks, RBB Berlin, with the Seifert organ recorded at the St. Matthias-Kirche, Berlin-Schoneberg, and dubbed in to the original recording. I like a lot of Pentatone recordings, but the SQ on this release is not the best Pentatone sound I've heard.
