Could say I was a big fan. Bought all of her recordings that I could find.
Her Schubert lieder recording that came out on Angel in the mid-60s should be in the classical hall of fame.
Follow Ups:
Scratchy Lp. Mine was about as bad, but after a couple of tries EMI finally issued a good CD version. It's also in a Warner box of seven or eight of her recordings, all superb.
Obviously, my favorite recording of this work.
Fritz and Otto hold up their side as well!
I splurged on that and got the SACD reissue that was issued in Japan. The original standard CD release had horrible sonics. Wonder if the Warner issue is better.
The 1998 "Great Recordings of the Century" remaster is pretty good.
. . . also if you collect booklet covers with reproductions of paintings by Caspar David Friedrich:
Czech Radio broadcasts from 1983 and 1966 respectively
Nice.
