Looking Forward, Looking Back
Symphonic Jazz Orchestra
For my ever-increasingly-meager Shekels, it's the version that best gets the Spirit of the début, as I understand it.
FWIW & YMMV.

Follow Ups:
I listened to the performance on YouTube..... Although lower resolution than the actual recording, I get the impression that the sound quality is top notch.....
This performance has diversions (there may be a better musical term), added improvisations by both pianist and orchestra...... I've heard some Gershwin fans claim the work was intended to be played with such ornamentation..... (Although most performances I've encountered were devoid of this.)
I recently encountered another such performance by young Japanese YouTube pianist named Cateen, whose real name is Hayato Sumino.... (His repertoire goes all over the place, from playing straight classical pieces to playing rock on the piano..... ) I've heard a few people comment that he took the "diversions" a little too far here (the use of the melodica is a curiuos one), but otherwise an interesting performance by a young pianist you might become a household name, if he continues to develop. (The orchestral accompaniment, the Japan Philharmonic conducted by Kanade Yokoyama, isn't exactly the best here, but it's decent.)
I have no idea why it was broken up into three parts.......
However, it's a fine recording and on Amazon it's in lossless. Also some other interesting music including a concerto for double bass. For some unexplained reason RiB is in three tracks on the recording.
