The Cleveland Orchestra needs to put out more recordings..... Maybe the solution is its own record label..... A little late to the party, but better late than never.
Follow Ups:
Right, they are now issuing on their own label, which allows them to release unusual stuff that commercial labels would not handle. Schubert 9 is the exception.
I think there will be more "warhorse" works off of the CO label, only because it seems like it has had a hard time with getting them off the standard recording labels..... I guess time will tell......
I was impressed with the sonics on the Schubert Nine CD..... (It was a little compressed at the loud end of the dynamic envelope, but not objectionably so. It is a better recording sonically than the previous three Cleveland releases of this work.) It was a nice performance, overall..... The interesting aspect of this performance is that FWM took all of the repeats, which accounts for the long play time. (I haven't yet listened to the other work.) It is the first Franz Welser Most/Cleveland recording that I can recommend.
