. . . the first meaning for "bipolar" I read in my dictionary is "having or relating to two poles or extremities", as in "a sharply bipolar division of affluent and underclass". Did you have a different meaning in mind?
One of my main sources for news is Consortium News, a web site originated by Associated Press reporter Robert Parry (who helped expose the Iran Contra scandal under Reagan). Parry grew to be so disgusted at our mainstream corporate news sources (like the ones you name - which are often nothing more than megaphones for Pentagon and intelligence state propaganda) that he founded the Consortium News site as an alternative. In fact, I was just reading Consortium News earlier today - and what did I find, but. . .
Follow Ups:
about the guy who started The Grayzone? Hmm, guess you could say he has some interesting views and claims. Read the whole profile.
There are no perfect journalists and no perfect news outlets, including this guy and Grayzone. They all push viewpoints.
And the Grayzone is doing yeoman work in standing up to the relentless propaganda megaphone of our mainstream press. Nevertheless you're correct when you say that there are "no perfect journalists and no perfect news outlets, including this guy and Grayzone. They all push viewpoints."
As for Wikipedia, yes, I use it myself. HOWEVER, individuals, PR firms, and corporations and government organizations with vested interests in how they, their clients, and their policies and products are portrayed in the most influential encyclopedia on earth (Wikipedia is the 7th most popular site, worldwide) have fueled a growing industry of people who write and edit Wikipedia articles for pay. This is particularly true when it comes to terms and people related to politics. Just a word to the wise.
that attacks another as "fake news," repeatedly, rings a warning bell.
The NYT indeed makes mistakes. The difference? It owns up to them. It is a huge organization. To claim it's a tool of the Defense Dept. or any other governmental agency is to believe in some sort of "Deep State." Of course, I know you don't, right?
Regarding 'bipolar:" when discussing psychology, it would be logical to assume you were referencing the clinical meaning. If you haven't heard of that very widely known clinical term, what are we trying to discuss?
And regarding "bipolar", were we discussing clinical psychology or were we discussing your own bipolar, either/or view of the world (i.e., if someone doesn't like the NY Times, then they must therefore be a Hannity supporter)? If you couldn't help but choose the "clinical" meaning of the word in that context, I'm afraid I can't help you. ;-)
Regarding the deep state, yes I do believe that it exists (if not, then what was Eisenhower warning us about?), and I think that the NY Times, the WAPO, CNN, NPR, and Fox News are mouthpieces for it (some more than others of course). As for the NY Times' "owning up" to its mistakes, sure, after it emblazons headlines hyping a false story, it may eventually, after awhile, print a retraction in the smallest available type back on page 62. If that's what "owning up" consists of, then OK.
