Article includes snippets of Schubert 9 by Szell x2, Dohnanyi, FWM.

I listened to the Schubert symphony last nigh on Qobuz.
I thought the sound quality was very good, and the playing and conception very good, but not on the level of inspiration of Harnoncourt/Berlin.
I did not have the time to the Krenek.

The Cleveland Orchestra currently is recording a digitally streamed concert series available free to subscribers, as well as to others at a fee TBA. All of the programs involve relatively small instrumental groups in which people can be spaced distantly around the stage at Severance Hall. There will be no audience. As an example, the concert of Nov. 10 is Mozart Concerto 9 (with Ax) and Bartok Music for Strings, Percussion, and Celesta.
There are plans to resume concerts with limited numbers of live audience members beginning in January, but the orchesta "continues to monitor the evolving situation."
I'm not going anywhere near a concert hall until there is a vaccine and evidence that it keeps people safe.

Uh, anyway, moving on.... : )
The Cleveland Orchestra "In Focus" series is recorded with all of the musicians together on stage.

It's not worth it to risk your health to keep things going.
And Videos won't cut it either.
How many Orchestra , both Pit and Symphony will still exist in, say, 2 years?
if they called...
Yes, an easy bet...
The Cleveland Orchestra needs to put out more recordings..... Maybe the solution is its own record label..... A little late to the party, but better late than never.
Right, they are now issuing on their own label, which allows them to release unusual stuff that commercial labels would not handle. Schubert 9 is the exception.
I think there will be more "warhorse" works off of the CO label, only because it seems like it has had a hard time with getting them off the standard recording labels..... I guess time will tell......
I was impressed with the sonics on the Schubert Nine CD..... (It was a little compressed at the loud end of the dynamic envelope, but not objectionably so. It is a better recording sonically than the previous three Cleveland releases of this work.) It was a nice performance, overall..... The interesting aspect of this performance is that FWM took all of the repeats, which accounts for the long play time. (I haven't yet listened to the other work.) It is the first Franz Welser Most/Cleveland recording that I can recommend.

BTW, that post is an example of your bipolar view of the world: I don't like the NY Times, therefore I must be a fan of Hannity and Limbaugh. (And didn't you accuse me of lacking nuance in my condemnation of HIP, Schoenberg and Freud? Hmm. . . I seem to recall some adage about people who live in glass houses . . .) Oh wait! Hannity's going to air soon: time for your Two Minutes Hate!
not the Washington Post? Nor the Boston Globe? Nor The Independent? The Guardian?
I consult all of them; I exclude Fox because it purposefully blends reporting and commentary. And, frankly, Ailes was a pig that no reputable organization would tolerate.(And I don't know if you understand what "bipolar" means?)
Edits: 10/09/20
. . . the first meaning for "bipolar" I read in my dictionary is "having or relating to two poles or extremities", as in "a sharply bipolar division of affluent and underclass". Did you have a different meaning in mind?
One of my main sources for news is Consortium News, a web site originated by Associated Press reporter Robert Parry (who helped expose the Iran Contra scandal under Reagan). Parry grew to be so disgusted at our mainstream corporate news sources (like the ones you name - which are often nothing more than megaphones for Pentagon and intelligence state propaganda) that he founded the Consortium News site as an alternative. In fact, I was just reading Consortium News earlier today - and what did I find, but. . .
about the guy who started The Grayzone? Hmm, guess you could say he has some interesting views and claims. Read the whole profile.
There are no perfect journalists and no perfect news outlets, including this guy and Grayzone. They all push viewpoints.
And the Grayzone is doing yeoman work in standing up to the relentless propaganda megaphone of our mainstream press. Nevertheless you're correct when you say that there are "no perfect journalists and no perfect news outlets, including this guy and Grayzone. They all push viewpoints."
As for Wikipedia, yes, I use it myself. HOWEVER, individuals, PR firms, and corporations and government organizations with vested interests in how they, their clients, and their policies and products are portrayed in the most influential encyclopedia on earth (Wikipedia is the 7th most popular site, worldwide) have fueled a growing industry of people who write and edit Wikipedia articles for pay. This is particularly true when it comes to terms and people related to politics. Just a word to the wise.
that attacks another as "fake news," repeatedly, rings a warning bell.
The NYT indeed makes mistakes. The difference? It owns up to them. It is a huge organization. To claim it's a tool of the Defense Dept. or any other governmental agency is to believe in some sort of "Deep State." Of course, I know you don't, right?
Regarding 'bipolar:" when discussing psychology, it would be logical to assume you were referencing the clinical meaning. If you haven't heard of that very widely known clinical term, what are we trying to discuss?
And regarding "bipolar", were we discussing clinical psychology or were we discussing your own bipolar, either/or view of the world (i.e., if someone doesn't like the NY Times, then they must therefore be a Hannity supporter)? If you couldn't help but choose the "clinical" meaning of the word in that context, I'm afraid I can't help you. ;-)
Regarding the deep state, yes I do believe that it exists (if not, then what was Eisenhower warning us about?), and I think that the NY Times, the WAPO, CNN, NPR, and Fox News are mouthpieces for it (some more than others of course). As for the NY Times' "owning up" to its mistakes, sure, after it emblazons headlines hyping a false story, it may eventually, after awhile, print a retraction in the smallest available type back on page 62. If that's what "owning up" consists of, then OK.
'who fact checks the fact checkers?'
apparently you're on it CFL!
the gift of omniscience should not be wasted
you probably saw it before I did it

the news of Shehroze Chaudhry's perfidy is being reported on the other 'major outlets' as well ... can't really fault the grey lady
there's modern 'swerveball's' flocking around most hot button issues
