Then there is the exception that makes the rule.
Peter Sellars' Giulio Cesare in Egitto may be that exception
Maybe without Lorraine Hunt it doesn't work, but with her?
One of my favorites, Euro-trash or no.

From the stills, it doesn't look like it's up my alley tough.
This scene alone is worth the price of admission, IMSHO.

The whole opera is well sung and well produced, Iif a bit 'campy' and over the top.
And Lorraine Hunt's performance as Sesto is just to die for. What an amazing talent so early lost. :-(
VERY well performed, but I'm not convinced that the contrived staging is adding much. Of course, I have not seen other stagings (traditional or otherwise) of this opera, so this is IMHO only! ;-)
Directed by the 'other' Peter Sellers.
Eraserhead ... was one of the most unforgettable movies I've seen
can't say that it was good, bad, or really anything but unforgettable
in fact I really didn't want to think about it and still don't
regards,
Not forgettable or wonderful.
