. . . with Narciso Yepes a couple of days ago. It's a Pentatone SACD reissue (part of my recent BRO shipment) in discrete quad, and also includes a (the?) Giuliani Concerto too. Beautiful sound quality, especially considering the age of the original. And I'll never understand why the Castelnuovo-Tedesco Concerto isn't at the same level of popularity as the two Rodrigo warhorses. Very appealing music! Here's the LP cover:

It looks like there are a Castelnuovo-Tedesco Harp Concerto (or Harp Concertino) and a Villa Lobos Harp Concerto too, neither of which I've heard.

A clear case of YMMV.

Mr. daniel's style is a bit elliptical for me sometimes! ;-)

I can't believe a 17 comment post talking endlessly about Rodrigo's harp concerto ?? No mention of Andres Segovia or Julian Bream....sigh

(Nor was I before I met him!)

A pro shot of Michael Cadiz's 30th instrument that I was honored to purchase in 2015.
Julian certainly wasn't my favorite (John Williams) guitarist and he proved it somewhat in Tacoma in the mid 90s.....but his second half of the concert with his Lute was absolutely astonishing. Julian must of been doing far more Lute practicing and recording than with guitar.....and hey.....that is a cool LP cover of Julian looking about 20 !

...that you know more about the guys than others.
You're welcome to do the mentioning. : )
It's hard to believe, but you posted something somewhat friendly to me...thanks
Tom
I completely agree:) That concerto and the Villa Lobos are both wonderful!
Harry Z
and Luis Bonfa recordings: Brazil gets no respect!
