I believe the original Pye recordings were done by the Mercury team, but I think EMI/Warner has owned the rights to these recordings for some time now. I'll be interested to check out these new Pye/Warner reissues on Qobuz - thanks for the heads up!

OK, older recording and all, but still...
Barbirolli 'gets' Sibelius, or so it seems to me.
But these days, I have only his Reader's Digest recording (of No. 2) with the RPO on a Chesky CD.I see that he's also got recordings of the Sibelius Second with a couple of other orchestras too (an early one with the NYPO, and one with the Philharmonia). He got around!
And, yes, I thought he did well with Sibelius (certainly better than he did with his Mahler Fifth, with its jog-trot finale!).
