Actually, my system is all tubed as well. I really do like the detail of the Q-F a lot, but prefer the Valhalla (and HMS) over it for the reasons you cited in your post (also why I prefer the Siltech G5 and NBS Omega over all the Nordost cables). I think the Q-F's leanness comes more in the upper and mid-bass areas than the midrange. Since I tend to like a little darker overall tonal shading to my system, that's why I've ultimately sold the Quattro-Fil, but from your listening preference in your post it is clearly just what the doctor ordered. The HMS is not quite as focused or ultimately resolving as the Nordost, in my system (tends to not quite get the leading edges of transients as sharply as the Nordost, and image focus is not as precise), which as a listener primarily to classical music I actually find more convincing in some respects, but is an equally fine-sounding cable, just a slightly different flavor.
