I also own Valhalla, XLO Limited, Siltech Gen 3 SQ88B and Siltech Gen 2 60-S interconnects. The Gen 5 Compass Lake bests all by a wide margin. I have auditioned quite a few other cables and have heard nothing to compare with the Gen 5. I only wish I could get some Emperor....sigh!
Follow Ups:
I have had Valhalla, FIM, Ensemble, Audio Note Vz and Spz, Omega Mikro, Jena Labs, NBS Monitor 0, Sahauro Supreme, Lewis, Mapleshade, Pure Note Reference, Siltech Gen. 3, and Stealth PGS. To date none approach the Siltech Gen. 5. But a one meter pair of Emperor is over $8000!!! This is why I want to know how come.
I was using Oracle V1 originally and I consider the V1 to be better than the OPUSMM. As I have mentioned in previous email, the Emperor is ultra liquid and smooth and transparent, the whole experience of listening the music is completely new. The details it bring to me is astonishing, and I come to the conclusion that any cable that use boxes do filter out more harmonics decay than without boxes, it least from my experiences.
Do you know how much of a contribution the "Ferrite" jackets at either end of the Emperor makes to the beauty of it's sound? Because I have 45 feet of LS 180 G3 speaker cable, it is not realistic to replace this with Emperor. So I am wondering how much of the Emperor's performance I can get if Siltech will sell me some of these ferrite filters and I put them on my G3 speaker cable.
I have never liked anything with ferrite beads on it, so it came as a surprise to me that on the Gen. 5, the sound is exceptional. I know this really does not answer your question, but it is a further example of why I would like to know why Gen. 5 sounds so good. It probably does account for why it is so quiet. It may be that the ferrous material in the jackets is quite low.
Thanks for the reply. I have a suspicion (no proof) that Siltech may not actually be using "ferrite" but rather something more akin to what Shunyata uses in their power cords, so called "Stardust". I too am quite taken with the Generation 5 Siltech. It would be of great interest to me to know if it is the metallurgical changes in the wire (from Gen 3 to Gen5) that make such an improvement, or if it is the EMI/RF absorbers put on the ends of the cables that works so much magic. I'd love to try a couple of them on my speaker cable to see what happens (LS 180 G3).
Again I wish I knew why Gen. 5 is such a jump. All I know is that it is.
While I cannot tell you exactly what it is.....think of Stealth Bombers and why radar is absorbed by the material from which these planes are made. It's some kind of high tech material which absorbs microphonic/electrical distortions.
Even if this is true, it is not to say that there is no ferrous material in it.Year ago the RedRoller were low amounts of ferrous in ceramics.
