Thanks all very much for your valuable input!
If you are serious try the Hubbell 20-Amp IEC Socket (as also suggested by Stu W.). You will need the H320C plug on your power cord. Much better contacts than a standard 15-Amp IEC.
Audiophile grade does not exist. I can supply you with an IEC 320 input. The other option would be a Hubbell 20 amp IEC connecror.Much better quality, but requires a different cable end connector because the pin config is slightly different. In any event, if I can help, please let me know.Stu Wein, Audioparts inc 561-642-7692 audioparts@aol.com
I will consider the 20amp IEC as an alternative as I have to modify my power cord to accommodate the change.
the ones to look for are the furutech ones, high copper content, gold or rhodium plated. Excellent.
ACME Audio is bringing out not only silver plated IECs, like those old Switchcrafts, but silver plated fuse holders as well......
Anyone have any thoughts why silver plating a standard contact will make an improvement?steve
I checked their site. The IEC inlet is not listed yet. I guess it is not officially released. I will continue to keep an eye on them...Thanks very much
They are being manufactured at this point and I expect delivery the middle of February.
Because I need some of these silver-plated IEC's like OJ needs a new scandal. Is Jenna labs cryo'ing them also?
Pls email me when they are already available! Tnx! :)
If you mean the part that gets installed on the chassis (not the cable) there are no real "audio grade" products. Just what is an audio grade btw? Most of the "tweaky" audio grade IEC products are really no better than "non-audio" grade. Some are worse and some donot meet UL, or vaarious national codes.
Well, the ones that Furutech provided are either gold or rhodiumn (sp?) plated. And they are considered spec grade if not exactly "audio grade."The term "audio grade" --i.e. blue star, may not be official, but some manufacturers (Wattagate, FIM, etc.) have been using it for some time.
Yes, you are right! There is no any Audio Grade! It is just marketing purpose!
For the best ones, there's 24K gold plated ones at www.Furutech.com. For myself, I got 3 of them from Welborne website, and even though they are just "normal" male IEC sockets, they work just fine. I put it on my Bryston crossover as well as my power conditioner and happy with results.
I looked at the Furutech site. But I cannot locate a dealer in the US that carry them.
They carry the inlet that you mentioned.
