    I've been repairing cables (in the pro sound world) for a long time but only making home audio cables for 30 years. I've always used some kind of tester for AC-this is the current (no pun intended) setup I like. Inexpensive and easy to use.
    
    I concur with the color of the wire to the color of the screw for an easy connection.
