The common wisdom is to attach the drain to the wall/male end, but not at the component/female end.Just a suggestion, and I have no idea if length is correct for your application, but the Oyaide Black Mamba-Σ V2 power cords are almost a no-brainer, and you don't have to build them. I use them on all components.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Sondek I saw that cable on Ebay and wondered about its quality. I have ordered the parts for one cable so I just might buy the ready made one for the second.
It has Oyaide R0 connectors and Mamba in between. It's exceedingly well made. Very neutral and transparent. My only beef is that there's just the one color, but then I didn't exactly buy them for their looks. Very pleased with them.
Good deal. I just ordered the cable. If I like it I'll get one for my preamp.
Let us know what you think of it after you've had some time with it.
I use four of them. Amps, preamp and CD machine.
In furtherance of full disclosure, it was our very own Duster that turned me on to them.
Thanks again for that tip, Duster.
Always glad to share my findings in the forum, and always a pleasure to discuss various matters with AA Inmates such as yourself, Sondek.
Yep, only $235 for a power chord assembly, definitely a no brainer.

By the time you buy the connectors, the cable and the techflex, there's just not that much saving to be had DIY.
I've DIY'd my share of cables, and many think it's fun to build them, but I always found it a PITA. The small premium to have Oyaide do it all in their factory is worth to me.
The op did say he was using the Black Mamba so I retract my such a deal comment. Must be getting old.

Shit happens. No worries.
