@Duster. Hello...you mentioned that the Furutech FI-11 (gold) has a dense tonal quality. How do you find the upper mids on up? Less than the normal in treble energy? Thanks.
Follow Ups:
I find the gold Furutech FI-11M(G) AC plug is comparatively darker sounding than a gold Oyaide P-079 AC plug with a more spotlighted treble energy.
I also find the gold Furutech FI-11M(G) AC plug presents a tonality that is similar to, but certainly lacking ultimate clarity and resolve vs. the SOTA gold Furutech FI-50M(G) AC plug.
From an upper-midrange/treble energy POV, I can't say the gold Furutech FI-11M(G) AC plug presents less than normal upper-midrange/treble energy vs. say a bare brass AC plug as a comparison, but it should be a good choice for an application that sounds a bit bright or might otherwise benefit from a somewhat warm sounding AC plug without sounding too lush. YMMV
@Duster. Thank you so so much for your time... really appreciate it. If i may trouble you again.... I am intend to change the male connector first. If it's exactly what i am seeking then I will go ahead with the female connector. In your experience...how much influence does the male connector have over the female in the final presentation? My goal is to just change the male. Trying to make an exact match to my AC Receptacle which is also a Furutech gold. Thanks.
What make/model power cable, what make/model AC connectors at this time, and for use with what make/model component?
What sonic aspect(s) of the presentation would you like to change or improve vs. the current sonic signature of the power cord, pc123v?
@Duster. Due to mild hyperacusis, I am very sensitive to frequencies in the sibilance and tizz range. Certain sounds from that range, for example cymbals and female vocal sibilance that don't bother others, really bother me a lot. I am constantly trying to "improve" overall presentation via slight darkening and tonal density increase, a little at a time. I think I am almost there. Upgrading of speakers and electronics not possible for the next 12 months.
I have one final PC to tweak in my attempt to get that final 5 percent darkening. Power cable is Acrolink 4030II and this PC will be from my Int amp (Line Magnetic) to AC outlet (Furutech GTX D gold). Connectors of PC in question is Sonarquest gold which I assuming is somewhat neutral and open sounding (so I am told). Regardless, I am using that as a reference point. I guess my question is, whether the Furutech FI-11 (g) is known to have a dense and a little darkish tonal character and whether matching it to my Furutech GTX D (g) will yield even better results in right direction.
Btw, in your experience, is there a discernible difference in sound quality when one matches male connector to AC receptacle? I intend to change the male plug first, to get that exact match of male connector to AC receptacle. The female I am not too concerned at the moment, since I will have it plugged to an inlet of dissimilar metals anyway. I will probably change the female to the furutech eventually though. However, if in your experience, it really matters to have both male and female connectors to be identical, I will probably change them at the same time. (Trying to save some money...:))
Hope you understand what I am getting at. Thanks again for your time.
A Furutech FI-11M(G) AC plug along with an Acrolink 7N-P4030 II power cord should be a fine match with a Furutech GTX D Gold AC outlet for your wants/needs.
If you upgrade from the gold SonarQuest AC plug to a gold Furutech FI-11M(G) AC plug, you should should also upgrade the IEC connector at the same time. The upgrade from a gold SonarQuest AC plug to a gold Furutech AC plug along with a Furutech FI-11(G) IEC connector will be more effective at providing what you seek in terms of sensitivity to high-frequencies, since an IEC connector provides as much sonic impact as an AC plug.
The gold Furutech FI-11(G) IEC connector features phosphor bronze contacts which is a warmer sounding metal than brass, and the gold plating is thicker which also provides a more relaxed treble energy. BTW, the notion of avoiding dissimilar metals is out-of-date when it comes to AC delivery connectors/outlets, IME.
@Duster. Thanks so much for your help, time and patience. Answered everything I needed to know. Really really appreciate it very much.
You can also use vibration control devices to tweak the sonic characteristics of a component, including the energy of the upper-frequencies.
Herbie's Audio Lab Tenderfoot feet tend to help provide a mellow and relaxed presentation but still dynamic with good clarity. Herbie's Audio Lab provides right of return, so the footer is definitely worth a try.
