Hi inmates ,
I'm currently auditioning a Synergistic Research Tesla Precision Reference Power cord . Compared to my stock power cords of my ARC REF 610 T this makes my system sounds more open , more powerful, more palpable mids , tighter bass, better dynamic contrast , & blacker background. What is the black science / explanation to the affect of a power cord in one system? These is the second time that I've experienced these ( Shunyata King Cobra PC vs XLO Signature PPC in the same amp and we were able to pick the proper PC to a friend's amp )
Thanks in advance ,
Mondial

With the power cord I like and use, it significantly improves sonics!

To begin with, it is best to consider a power cord as the first several feet of the power supply section of an audio component rather than the last several feet of AC wiring from the power station. Once one wraps their head around this notion, it's easier to get a handle on what's involved in the affect of a power cord and the entire AC delivery system for an audio application.
The most succinct explanation is to consider a power cord as an integral aspect of the power supply section of an audio component, and the entire AC delivery system from the AC outlet installed at the wall, and beyond. There is no dividing line that makes a power cord somehow removed from the function of an audio component and a system as a whole, because it is the entire AC delivery system that affects the signal chain. The nature of the power supply section for an audio component is a vital aspect of how an audio signal is formed within a system.
A stereo system, reduced to its most basic function, takes electricity from the wall and converts it into sound. The cleaner the electricity, the better the sound. I'm using a Shunyata PLC and Shunyata Venom power cords and couldn't be happier.
In terms of cleaning up the electricity what does a power chord do that the heavily filtered power supply of a component doesn't do?

Probably the one consistent attribute an aftermarket Power Cord adds is the construction typically reduces or nearly eliminates radiated energy from the AC cord to associated signal cabling and possibly the components themselves. The cable geometry may also incorporate a noise reducing (common mode rejecting) lay.
It's covered indept here
I am not up on the total jargon of power delivery, but..
The so called sine wave from the wall is not usually very clean. It has all sorts of irregularites and spikes etc. Due to other stuff somewhere on the line, even far away stuff. I think a lot of power cord 'stuff' is to clean up the waveform. Dampening spikes etc.
Another factor not really discussed is the phase variance due to capacitance etc. The actual power may not be lined up with the rest of the wave.. So a power loss (primarily important in factories) can happen.
This is the math of AC power I am at a loss to understand. Non the less it does exist and affects power delivery. Seeing graphs online of the parts of the waveform not lining up is all I have seen. Some conditioners say they fix this too.
Now in a audiophile system these factors can affect the sound.
So a power cord can 'perhaps' have some effect on these things.
The following is only my personal experience trying to explain what I hear. not some physics lesson!:
Also IMO the wave can be 'fat' or 'thin'. Seems plenty of cords and conditioners make the sound more resolved, but also thin.
Like the difference tween tubes (fat) and transistors (thin)
Like the cord restricts the waveform in some way Even using 10 gauge wires... Vs some which do not, even though those make the sound better.
Since you have found a power cord that greatly complements your classic ARC gear, I would suggest you follow it with Synergistic Research Interconnects and Speaker Cables...
That is the wonderful aspect of the audition, you can always go back to your original cables or try more top shelf brands...
Hi RadioWonder,Im currently using Synergistic Tesla apex speaker cables w/ my REF 610T and it matches well . Was using MIT Shotgun & Straightwire Maestro speaker cables in the past but the SR Tesla Apex are in another level. Good thing I got them used for a good price.

Here are some pictures I took sorry for the picture quality , was taken using my IPhone.
Sweet pics! Mondial
M.I.T. SR and Transparent are all sonic matches for ARC gear. Whichever brand that you select, go for a full system (SP, IC and PC) for best effect.
Thank you for the photos of your system... I hope it all works out for you...
