Or should I leave the 3rd wire out completely?
My speakers are bi-wirable. I've made the low freq out of 2 separate runs of the cable using all 3 wires (IE Dave Pogue). I want to use one run for the high freq + and -. Thus my question about which is the best use of the 3 wires. Thanks.

Okay, got it. Stick with that approach. If I make any suggestion, I'll just mess you up :-)(Which would be: don't go bi-wire at all, and use a a jumper made of the same stuff. See?)

Just curious.
BTW, I just got the OK (from wife)to build/buy an open shelf unit which will make it soooo much easier to deal with equipment issues.

Don't work.Just go to the scot's guide, he's bashed that topic but goooooood...
Course, he uses strawman arguments in the first page, then defies the first law of thermodynamics in the second..But hey, I really believed him..
My current speakers (Gallo Reference 3s) don't allow for biwiring, although there's a second pair of inputs feeding the woofers' second voice coils. Here's where I'm coming from. In the late 90s I was running ProAc Response 3s that did allow biwiring, and I was using biwired Kimber 8TCs on them. I decided to experiment with Mapleshade speaker cables (Double Golden Helix) and assumed I would biwire with them. In discussing this with Mapleshade, Pierre Sprey talked me out of it, said that single-wiring + jumpers would sound better (thus cutting his own sales/profits in half, so I figured he was being honest). He was right: the single-wired Mapleshades just slayed the 8TCs. I briefly tried biwiring with my subsequent speakers, Gallo Ultimates and, again, single wiring sounded clearer and more open. Thus, my suggestion.Glad you were able to go to an open-shelf setup. Much easier to deal with equipment (and wire) changes. Dave

I'm familiar with Mapleshade and Pierre's stance on bi-wiring. Maybe I'll give it a try after i get my stand built. Hopefully by next weekend. I could do it this weekend except for the finish.
Right now I have the cables prepared, but couldn't get them installed yesterday because of the need for 3 hands. I may install some bananas on the amp ends which will make it much simpler.
Thanks for your help

Why not just experiment and see what sounds best to you. It's not as if the stuff costs enough to worry about :-)

It's not the cost that is of concern. The problem for me is that my system is in a semi enclosed rack because it is in the living room. It gets WAF but is a pain to deal with in terms of moving stuff in and out. I can't wait to get my listening room where I can have an open rack and every wire showing.
For the time I have put 2 on the - and 1 in the + of the high freq. But I am unsure if there is a generally preferred way, thus my question.
Now to install. Have I told you how much I hate having to change anything in the rack because it is a PITA?
