I have a DAC 3.1(upgraded 2.1) and am looking to upgrade some parts on my M2 ps. I have a Bendix for the rectifier and will be using .47 M-TubeCaps for the filter caps. Parts Connexion is having a 20% off sale and would like to take advantage of it. However, I believe PCX no longer has AN caps - so I am at looking at either Clarity MR or Mundorf Silver/Oil for C1 & C8. Anyone have a preference for either of these, or have another recommendation?
BTW, I just got the price for the Triple C-Cores from Brian. These will be next!

Jeffx,
As I wrote in the posting after yours that not all mods are good ones. The guys at Audio Note did great with what they sell. Upgrades, if that's what you call it, are not always an upgrade. It might make things sound different but maybe not better. That will be suggestive to you.
Whenever I did any work to a power supply on either amps or preamps, I most of the time bypassed the one that came with it and built my own using better parts and iron. Gets to be costly though. That is why I went into building my own stuff from scratch.
I built my own DAC using the Audio Note DAC board and the Audio Note chassis. I built a separate power supply for the digital side as well as the output side. When done the power supply cost almost as much as buying a completed 3.1. But I had fun. Sonically I preferred it cap coupled to the outputs rather than using the output tranny coupling but again, that's my ears.
I am sure going to the triple C-core tranny should sound good, but is it that much better to justify the expense. But! Even if you use the more expensive trannies, will it really sound better or do you just want it to because of the expense or someone said it does or should.
Not that I have compared it with capacitor coupling. But I am really, really pleased with the 4.1LE I built this summer. I did use all 2W tants in the analog section, and subbed in V-Cap CuTf's. (Oh, and you've got to get a Bendix 6X5, as virtually everyone else has said. Plus play around with any of 6 varieties of 5687's to fine tune the sound.)
Then later I subbed in an Eichmann RCA input for the SPDIF + a 5" tail of VH Audio's Ohno cast silver coax - - and this really sealed the deal, made it all sing so beautifully.
Given the music that I am enjoying out of this unit, I have to believe that the Triple C-Cores must be excellent! I think I am just going to sit back and enjoy the music with this unit - - no more mods, just entrancing music!
"will be using .47 M-TubeCaps for the filter caps"
Might be too small
I must have been thinking about c1 when I wrote that. The filter caps will be 47uF. I am currently using the 47uF M-Tubecap in my L2.
