This is positioned to be the AN DAC4 Signature, but I showed the photos of the insides to someone who's had several AN DACs, and they said that the topography and layout are different on this one. I've never seen one 'naked', so I don't know if it's a kit in the factory chassis or a bonified AN DAC4 Signature
Thanks!

It's a DAC4 Signature from circa 1993-94. It looks original, Blackgates and all, the red caps are Jensen as well as the blue ones. PCM-63 K chips used and lots of silver. It was the top model for it's time.
Thank you!
Box, how would you describe the sound comparing to today's AN DACs?

Send the photo to Peter Q at AN UK. He will give you the difinative answer I reckon.

I am looking at the picture and it appears that there are two power supplies. One for the output stage and one for the digital stage. I thought the level 4 had output trannies as well but I am not familiar with all the AN products. What is the third piece of iron there? Power tranny or choke?
I would say if it is tranny coupled on the output there would be two identical transformers there.
four ICs in the digital board. those red caps are probably BG non-polars. the black caps are probably BG V or F or NX or standards.
but those blue output coupling caps are surely aluminum jensens. I dont think AN will use that in their level IV product.
