i am looking for any information i can get on an NAD 3045 intergrated. i recently aquired it for a small fee, and would like to repair it. i would also like some help with regards to what may be wrong with it. a crackling noise is evident in the right channel, most notably at low volume (as it is not a very loud crackling), and the volume of the noise remains constant regardles of the amp volume.

What an amazing coincidence I just wrote to NAD asking the exact same thing. They wrote back saying that they didn't have any information at all on this one. Makes me wonder if your post was NAD-induced, so to speak.Anyway, the unit I've come across (it's actually my fiance's who appropriated it from her father) is in perfect working condition. Crisp, clean, clear are the three words that come immediately to mind when describing the 3045's sound. Other than that I'm afraid I have no other information to share with you. Perhaps some inmate will enlighten both of us.
NAD couldn't supply me with any tecnical infomation for my mid '90s 3020i, except from memory. The senior service engineer talked me through a modification over the phone, from memory! Now that is service!I did find a manual from:
www.mauritron.co.uk...but I don't see the 3045 on their list though. Closest matches are 3140, 3240.
Is this a US only model?
Actually we have the manual - it's just that the manual has no specs. What I wanted to find out was things like power rating into 8 and 4 ohms, damping factors etc. to allow for better matching of speakers, cables and the like.

Are we talking about the same manual, the "Service Manual"?The operators manual is useless for this, I agree. The service manual should list slew/damping/clipping etc.

Operators Manual. I didn't know there even was a service manual.

Yep, and that's what you really need to get the information your looking for.My own 3020i is the sister to the 3225PE and tracking down the 3225PE was easier than the 3020i. Does your operator manual list a similar sister model?
I checked at www.mauritron.co.uk but they don't list the NAD 3045.
...and on Altavista search of the web I can find one reference to the NAD 3045! Though being in Europe I suggest using the 'Kontact' form on the German site www.nad.de and they might be able to help.
I have also use http://www.celica-dude.d2g.com/ for manuals before, might be worth a try.
