Sorry, A 'disaster' would be if you didn't get your money back at all. You have no idea what an Audio 'Disaster' is.You're lucky as shit, if this was your biggest problem!
For Reference -- I bought a pair of Musical Affairs Speakers for about $6 Grand from the Netherlands, based on a 'Rave Review' from an Asylum Member. The speakers cracked in about 6 weeks in my Harsh Minnesota Climate and they sounded Mediocre to Crappy at best anyway. I sent the speakers back to their California Dealers and received a refund of about $3500... That speaker 'Audition' cost me about $2500.. - Thanks SETdude!

Between the speaker damage, Tektons uppity attitude, poor shipping cartons, $295.00 return shipping fee and having to wait 3 weeks for refund and having to ask for my refund TWICE, I would say it was a disaster.
"I've always been mad, I know I've been mad, like the
most of us...very hard to explain why you're mad, even if you're not mad..."
So, you were willing to agree to a $295 audition....
And that is all you lost - So, no 'disaster' here that I can see.
Stereo 5 had a 5.5 Richter Scale disaster - yours was an 9.0 disaster.
This has generally been my fear. I have generally been lucky to live near audio dealers to be able to try stuff before I buy it. But having to return something like large speakers seems like a nightmare - and you guys are certainly evidence to this.
You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine.

A disaster is in the eyes of the beholder.
