remote controls are noisy radio sources inside the preamp. They lower the quality of the preamp invariably. Open one up. where is all the fancy shielding to prevent interference? Any DIY person who'has tried various volume controls will mention how rotten most volume control devices sound. The remote control is the worst. Why pay for CJ with a remote? Why not get cheap SS and pay 1/4 for some lower quality sound due to the remote. Others, I suppose with begin the "perfect sound forever argument" regarding remotes rather than digital. Lower priced integrated amps cannot afford to put in very high quality remote volume controls or shield them, therefore cheap and crappy or none. CJ obviously chose better sound over crappy but convenient.
Follow Ups:
Modern remotes for several decades have used Infra-red light, not RF.If remotes were so evil CJ wouldn't offer them at all would they? But they do in their higher-end product line while choosing to skimp on the entry models.

Abe, I agree their expensive models do have remote but the way it is employed makes it cost prohibitive for the Classic and CAV 45. The CT and ET use a series of relay switched vishay resistors which are microprocessor controlled. It much more elaborate than a motorized pot
