gear made in china (junk sourced) is a "NO" for me as well.

China has Doubtless made some bad business decisions in the past and has a reputation for cost-cutting at the expense of either quality or what they were contracted for in the first place.
Even aircraft have a problem with 2nd source and NON-Certified parts for service / repair. This is a world-wide issue and not 'caused' by China.
I think that if you manufacture in China, you Must keep a close eye on things so you get exactly what you are paying for. Some companies ARE successful at that but others decide it isn't worth the hassle and withdraw from that market.
This goes for anything made there. Electronics to shoes.
