I'm thinking of jumping into buying a nice silver A-S501 integrated.
Specs look good, I don't need a shit ton of power to run my Klipschorns, any impressions?
Follow Ups:
I owned the A-S701 for awhile. It was a nice sounding amp but was a little to crisp sounding for my Monitor Audio Bronze 6 speakers. Could have been a amp/speaker mis-match. I sold the Yamaha and kept the speakers. I am running a class A amp with a tube hybride pre and these sound great with the Bronze 6
I don't know if you have plans to tinker with computer based audio but the slightly higher-end A-S801 includes a much better DAC (with USB input and support for 'hi-res' audio) in addition to it's higher power output from the integrated amp.
Good luck.
not the model you mentioned....but figured would mention it
Hey Michael long time no see,
I have the smallest Yamaha A-S301 if you want me to bring it over. I like mine but I realize the 501 is different, but you could at least hear one before jumping. Mark
Sup, Mark!Bringing it over would involve driving to Lenzburg, IL (between New Athens and Marissa)!
I'd buy it on your word alone, unless you've got some tube action I need to know about! The reviews are really mixed, with "dry" and "thin" tossed around frequently! I like "wet" and "thick" myself!

Wet and thick would NOT describe the little Yamaha. I'm sending you an email soon.
I was always a closet Yamaha fan.
Go for it and let us know how it works out.
Are you getting it from Crutchfield with a 30 day return policy?
Crutchfield has an unusually generous 60-day refund policy.
Thanks, Alex! That'd be the way to go!
