Hello. Anyone want to take an onk m504 for a couple years in exchange for some diagnostics and or repair? She's got a fizzle in one channel.Faint but there. I hear the big caps go but they look fine.
Too much for me.
Follow Ups:
Did you like it when it was working properly?
Is it that you just have too much stuff and want to unload it?
Because it is a fine amp and worth having it restored vs buying a new amp.
I've worked on many of that type and several things go on them. Believe it or not that crappy ribbon wiring starts to oxidized and cause problems like what you may be hearing. it could be just that. Then the smaller caps start to just dry out. A simple recap of the board and power supply caps usually fixes those types of problems. It's a no brainer type fix but do up the voltage values. But if you do fix that amp, and I would recommend it unless you are just tired of it, GET RID of all that ribbon wiring!!!!
What about temp rating on the Big PS caps?
If they were not 105c from the start, it might be worthwhile to 'up' the rating at any recap?
Too much is never enough
