Hi. I'm going to set up a second turntable with the AT Mono3/LP cartridge and run it through the phono stage of a Belles Research DMM preamp, feeding via the Belles tape out into a Vincent SA-31MKII preamp.
Here's my question: The Vincent doesn't have a mono switch and the Belles does, but will the Belles mono switch be in play when using the preamp only for its phono stage? Will I somehow be bypassing the mono/stereo circuit?
I figure it would work but I've figured wrong before.
Follow Ups:
I have a feeling the mono switch will operate on the main preamp outputs only. Therefore, I don't think it will be effective with the tape outputs, but I have no way of knowing. You, on the other hand, own the equipment so you should be able determine this for yourself. Connect your stereo cartridge and put on a stereo record. Then, flip the mono switch. If it turns into mono you'll know it works; if not, so be it!
Good luck,
John Elison
That makes way too much sense, John. Must be why I didn't think of it. Haha. Thanks!
