I have a CA-101 amp and CP-35 preamp both of which I really like. But both have developed problems. The display on the CP-35 preamps flakes out from
time to time. And the CA-101 amp has this problem where the channels will
periodically drop out at low levels. Research on the internet says it is likely the
output relays going bad.I had the repair guy at my local Classe dealer look at the amp and he says he couldn't fix
it and that I will need to send it to Classe. So I called Classe and got the details on how to send things back to them.
Are there any other places here in the ststes that could repair these pieces?
I live in NC. Shipping to Classe up thru Buffalo NY is not going to be cheap.
Considering what I have invested in the 2 pieces I am wondering if it will be worth
trying to get them repaired. But I do really like how they sound. What do you think?

I have a CA300 that had some issues. While the CA300 is seriously heavy, I did opt to ship to Classe and have them repair it. They did a great job, good communication, and have had no issues since. So if you go the repair route, I think youwi;; be happy with the work done be Classe.
Post in one of the technical forums here for a nearby hobbyist tech. I'm one, but not local. I changed a relay in my Accuphase for the same problem. The relay was under $20 including shipping, took me about an hour. Display problem could be a bad connection, worst case (probably) the display, you could ask Classe what they sell for and most likely it wouldn't take someone too long. "Likely", means have to see how it was put together. Or take the cover off and take some pictures and post them. If the display is surface mounted to a PCB you would need the entire PCB, but that isn't likely.
Mostly I need to turn up the volume when beginning a listening session, but then it remains OK. I also have some mid-fi gear with this same problem and, sometimes I don't know whether to blame speakers, connections or amplifier.
I think the classe gear is pretty good and their amplifiers are certainly in a 'class' their own. Get a cost estimate and then decide to keep or to sell.
Most likely the relay, or a dirty speaker A-B selector switch.
Hello bboroski
did you buy the gear from Audio Advice there in Raleigh?
No I bought both pieces used. But I have bought many things from AA over
the years. Ivan is my buddy. ;-)

I was going to say that Ivan and Co. has a pretty good repair department.
During my travels, I always stop by Audio Advice and listen to the gear with Mel.
