The selling of his amp is not nearly as surprising as the small snippet of nice things he had to say in passing about Mark Schifter in his Emerald Physics 4.7 review last month.
Now *that* was astounding! Talk about going against the grain of popular opinion on that one.

Funny seeing this thread!! Lol!
Yes, I bought Jerry's Rogue Stereo 100 review sample. I am a Rogue fan, and decided to replace my Stereo 90 Super Magnum with the newer unit. From my standpoint, it was a great deal. This amp is in 100% perfect condition, right down to the box, and it is only approximately 6 months old. I paid about $1300 less than if I had bought a new one. This one was built for a reveiwer, and it received the highest marks from Jerry in that review so I had a reasonable assurance of its quality. And if all else failed, Rogue is only about an hour from me and I've dropped in there enough times for them to know me. (Mark, Nick and their crew are all great people, by the way.)
Jerry was a perfect gentleman and salesman, He responded quickly to every question I had, he shipped it out within hours of me paying for the unit, and he communicated with me before, during and after the sale. The unit was packed perfectly in the factory box, and it arrived on time, without so much as a scratch. He sold this unit because his speakers are very efficient and he wants to try a more SET style amp with lower power. That makes sense to me. Plus as a review, the temptation to try new stuff has to be overwhelming.
In my system, the amplifier sounds great. Mark had told me the last time I was at their shop about how much the Stereo 100 had advanced over my Stereo 90 Super Magnum. I'd say it's better, but the Stereo 90 SM was no slouch, either. They make really great, musical stuff in Brodheadsville, PA.
I enjoyed Jerry's review, and I think he hit on a lot of good points with his assessment of the Stereo 100. In fact, I think he nailed his review of the Rogue Ares as well (I bought that one new partially based on his review).
Just wondering how the Stereo 100 is advanced over the Stereo 90 Magnum. The transformers look the same, the power supply caps all look the same, the 100 has KT120 (a big negative IMO) and 12au7 drivers instead of the 6SN7s in the Stereo 90 (a big big negative IMO). Maybe some of the caps and/or resistors are upgraded?
If you run your 90 and 100 with the same output tubes and same output taps, do they really sound different?
Thanks for any incite you can provide between the models.
The Stereo 90 Super Magnum and the Stereo 100 sound very similar to one another. The Stereo 100 is a little bit quieter than the 90. I would say that it has a little more detail, a little more space, and the highs are just a little bot sweeter. It is marginally more powerful than the 90 as well. The sonic signature, however, is nearly identical. Put another way, the 100 doesn't give up anything to the 90, but it just incrementally improves over the 90 in the key areas. The Stereo 90 Super Magnum is a fine sounding amplifier.
I like the 12AX7/12AU7 compliment of tubes in the Stereo. The 6SN7s sounded good in the 90, but they don't seem to have the lifespan of the smaller tubes. I like the KT120s, as I did with the 90.
