At one point I was catching a lot of shit for the very same thing. And something came to me - who the heck are you to enforce YOUR demands. What are you the stereo police stopping some from having fun in this hobby.
As I was reading your post I started to realize that there are some of us that just like to try out a lot of stuff. So when did that become the big - "turn in your audiophile badge" moment?
If I want to buy a new stereo every six months then I damn well will. And screw you if you have a problem with it!
My post wasn't about "civilian" audiophiles, it was about a reviewer telling his readers that an amp was so great that he bought it. Pretty much the highest rec a reviewer can give.No shit reviewers are in the biz of trying lottsa gear, and for some that's a large part of the reason they wanna become reviewers. But WTF is the point of gilding a rave review by telling readers they bought the product if in reality they're only keeping it for a lousy 6 months?
As for you changing your entire system every 3 days if you desire........I don't give a flying rats ass unless you set yourself up as reviewer, start your own reviewing site.
Why do you think mags like S'phile have rules about this shit? Getting a product with (around) a 40% discount, telling your readers its so good that you bought it as a reference, then selling it 6 months later for about what you paid for it renders paragraphs like the last one in Jerry's Rogue review utterly meaningless IMO.
