Dont overlook the First Watt amps from Nelson Pass. Plenty of power for horns, and a very tube like sound. You can even build your own for not a lot of cash.

hence my suggestion is USED Aleph 30 or Volksaqmp
In particular, in your price range, look for a First Watt M2. For some reason that I can't figure out, the audio world has forgotten about this amp while it has fallen in love with other First Watt amps, so good used ones can be had for around $1k. Klipsch owners seem to like it; see the forum discussion at the link.
Full disclosure: I own an M2, and I think it's incredible. It easily drives my Sonist speakers, but I haven't heard it with Klipsch.
Happy listening,

Actually great suggestion!
I forgot but what are you using for a preamp?
Pass Labs XP-10.
My system profile is more or less up to date.
