Will be in the Boston area for a listen in a few months but would like to see what others know about this amp?
Follow Ups:
An audiophile friend of mine got the Mactone MA 300B amp and was kind enough to bring it to my house to listen to it in my system and in my room. It was new and not even broken in. At the time I had Hovland Preamp and Art Audio Jota Amp (with KR 300BXLS tubes) driving my Avantgarde Omega Duo speakers. I was very happy with my system and was not at all looking to change/upgrade anything.
We listened my system approx 30 min. and took my Jota out and replaced it with the Mactone amp. I was astonished how much better was the Mactone right out the box from my beloved Jota. Better across the board; dynamics, deep and wide soundstage, inner detail, and unbelievable effortless live like presentation.
I was so impressed when it that I bought one immediately. After a couple of month of happy listening I simply had to sell my Hovland preamp and buy a Mactone XX-330 Preamp. Well, a combination and synergy between the Mactone amp and preamp is just unreal. Now my system was elevated to an other level. In an other league.
We Audiophiles are nuts. The combination is so awesome that now I had to sell my Aesthetics Rhea Phono Preamp and buy Macton Phono Preamp XX-305. I can not describe how this "Mactone Trio" sounds with my Avantgarde Duo Speakers.
Maybe just one word - heaven.
I have been an Audiophile for over 25 years and my wife who deserves the "Nobel Price for Tolerance" can finally relax. For me this is it.
One more important thing is that Steven Klein of Sounds of Silence (the Distributor) is one of the nicest and most knowledgeable person that I ever met in this business.

I have a Mactone MA300B and a Mactone xx-330 preamp. I found the review dead on with the fact that the Mactone throws a huge soundstage, is very true to the recording and has some of the most pure midrange I have ever heard. The bass is surprising for the wattage. I am using it with dynamic 3 way speakers rated at 89db (Shun Mook Bella Voce). I have heard the Bella Voces with Wavelength Cardinals, Highly modified McIntosh MI75, and the Lamm single ended (cannot remember their model number for the 18 watt Lamm) and the Mactone clearly beat the Cardinals, and held it's own agianst the other two. Gives you midrange magic with some dynamics. My brother heard it in my system and now owns one himself. I too have no interest in ever getting rid of it. I must say, it is a nice feeling when you find a component that makes you forget about wanting something else (Does that mean I am in love?). The amp will benefit from whatever tweek you help it with - it will reveal slight changes in your system. The importer, Steve Klein, Sounds of Silence, is a great guy and really supports the Mactone products well. Give it a listen, you will not be disappointed.
I had the Lamm 2.1 amps and heard them against the Mactone 300B amp, case closed, bought the Mactone, sold the Lamm's and had thousands extra in the bank. Now I never even consider looking for another amp...it is that good!
I have had a MacTone X-21 and MA 300B preamp and amplifier for the past 3 years. Prior to the Mactones, I changed equipment almost every 6 months. The fact that I have had them for 3 years is a testament to how awesome they are. I have listened to equipment that are much more expensive than the Mactones but will not trade the Mactone's straight up for them.
