Hi All,

It's been a while since I've been on here, but I recently came across a strange issue with my Feickert protractor (older white version).

I purchased this tool a couple of years ago as I felt that the alignment jig that came with the Graham Phantom showed enough play so as to make me question its accuracy. When I first used the Feickert I checked the alignment that I had done with the Graham jig and found the overhang to be about 1-2mm behind the arc on the Feikert disc.

At the time I assumed that the error was indeed due to the Graham jig and went on my merry way.

A couple of weeks ago I put a Basis 2800 with the Vector 4 into the system and used the Feikert for the alignment. All appeared to be well and I was very happy with the resulting sound.

Being somewhat OCD I decided to check with the alignment mirror that came with the vector and found the stylus tip to be 1-2 mm in front of the alignment point on the Vector mirror.

So here I am with two different arms on two different tables and I'm getting the same error of 1-2mm. This makes me question the accuracy of my Feikert protractor.

Has anyone else experienced this?

As an aside I did verify with A.J. @ Basis that he's using a straight Baerwald geometry in his gauge and that is the geometry that I used with the Feikert.

As a second aside I did note that in using the FOZGOMETER to set azimuth I'm rotating the cartridge (Transfiguration Orpheus) a couple of degrees counter clockwise. The cartridge is visibly rotated and this makes me a bit nervous, but In using a mirror to check the orientation of the stylus it appears to be a correct setting.

Overall it sounds wonderful and the only reason I'm questioning anything is due to the fact that I couldn't leave well-enough alone.

Any insight is greatly appreciated.
