I used a Michel clamp for some years on a Rega Planar 3, but I'm not honestly sure if it flattened the records in any meaningful way - I DO know it prevented them from slipping on the mat and thus reducing the effective rotational playing speed (not always a bad thing on Regas!) I now use an SME 10 and find the clamp, platter/washer arrangement on this table allows the huge clamp to flatten warped records (SME suggest one taps the edge of the disc in several places to ensure it is secure against the platter).
