When winter rolls around here in the midwest, the windows are closed and the heat turns on. It dries out the air and increases the static in the house 10 fold. Unfortunately, listening to vinyl is much less enjoyable. Much more hiss, and when I pick up the arm to change records I can hear the static surging through the arm/myself/ and system.
I haven't tried a static gun or anything like that. I suppose a simple humidifier running once a day would help quite a bit.
