I remember when I had a Dual 701 in the 70's I had one of these test records with the blank part. With 0 antiscating the arm zoomed across the surface towards the middle. Why does it do that if there is no or very little friction?
When I adjusted antiscating so that the arm stayed in one position it was always very close to the value recommended by the manufacturer. e.g. 1gr VTF = 1 on the antiscating scale for an elliptical stylus.
It would be interesting to find our how close a setting established with a blank surface comes to a setting determined by listening to torture tracks.
