High mass tonearms will work best with low compliance moving coils. There are so many varieties, and so many are not flat in their frequency response, with many of the old MCs having rising top ends, and needing to be dampened through loading, its a function of your budget and taste, and speakers. The list of recommendations is vast. My primary TT and second TTs have a single MC cartridge that I wont remove, but I have another TT with removable headshells for other cartridges when a record needs a quick eq tweak, mono, or its background listening.
